Keep Kaichifo or letting mornings come!

My kids and I end the day with a greeting in our Igbo dialect; Kachifo which loosely translated means “let morning come.” I love this word not just for its symbolism but it’s reminder that one has to move gently through the night, observing carefully, lovingly, the idea of another day with those we pass through this life. We are saved by love, by greetings, by gentle assurances, mini prayers too, that give us the courage to begin again when morning coming comes. We get to press forward again, leaving yesterday behind when morning comes. Life stands stubbornly before us, demanding, if we are lucky, to live it again when morning comes. Kachifo is my word the day, maybe even for awhile, because the possibilities of life are endless, when morning comes!
