Persistence is that thing you do, when doing nothing will do. It’s how you keep going even when not going will not do. It’s how you also never give up even when giving up will do. Persistence is a name you carry, the fortunate collateral of a woman who once carried it on her head long before you arrived. We called her mama, but persistence was her middle name, with the courage to wait, her forever game. She taught how persistence is that thing that will lead you all the way even when there seems to be no way. She named and framed us us and gave us life.
