Keep your impact!

Twice today, I found myself speechless. The first was from a woman named poem. A name given to her by her father. She shared how writing as I do here has been inspiring to her in a way that I didn’t even know. I was speechless and grateful that these words give many comfort in ways unknown to me.

The second was from an award ceremony. It’s been close to 2 years since my transition and to be celebrated by my new home in the manner they did tonight was inspiring. I don’t work for praises. I leave that to God. Every single thing that I am and I have belongs to him. However to see his light shine so bright in my life is in itself, worthy of praises. So I was speechless that colleagues found me deserving of the Deans impact award. If celebrating each other at work isn’t love, then what is the point of work. Why even work? I do not know. But the way in which my fellow colleagues called and celebrated my name today leads me to suspect that there is love at work. Plus even if we don’t see it, at least we know, love is not simply giving a gift; it’s struggling. It’s urging, it’s pushing, it’s pulling, it’s being a leader when you don’t want to lead, it’s all of that and I was speechless because this gift isn’t for my glory, but his.
