Keep telling the truth

If and when you tell the truth, even if it hurts, only the telling matters. These days, I am seeing stories burst out of me that tell the truth from the bottom of my heart. There is no room for small talk, we are easily bored and we hate paying for things unnecessary like another journal article worth $3k or more that few in the public will ever read. If you want to know the truth, writing and publishing journal is outdated. We need stories about research that have never been told, never been published, perhaps reviewed or even rejected, whatever the field, we need stories that confront the devil and speak of love.

I learnt today that I am a double agent in global health. One leg is steeped in global north and another in global south and both equally shape the story I tell of the work I do. I also learnt to tell the truth and shame the devil. Our field needs to understand that paying for peer reviewed articles worth $3k isn’t global health. It’s more paying lip service to the word global or health and our heads are fed up…We are everything that is worrisome of our field.
