Keep Easter!

The enormity of rain, with all its drops, that thrust from the skies above to the earth below, is that it empties itself out, Iike words written as if from the core of an empty tomb. Only the tomb is not empty and we have memorized how to rise from the dead and these words are like rain, pouring out on their own, until language spins into a life of its own. Happy Easter!

My son created this image for Easter. It’s the story of how the tomb was found to be empty on Easter Day. I like to see the tomb as a guide for this writing life. The idea that I will always be empty is helpful. Many may see the ideas too as empty. But we all know that ideas are buried in tombs and it’s all up to us to choose to rise above whatever emptiness we feel. I’m choosing to rise once more with writing just as Jesus rose again today. Happy Easter.
