On any given day, a group of pine trees stand tall at the back of our home. They are slim and delicate, always evergreen with branches so soft to touch. Wild winds sway their branches often , wild air their needles and pinecones too. Still they stand, tall and strong, always delicate to touch. 

But when high winds followed a tornado last night, our pine trees did the unthinkable. I imagine they too were wild. I imagine they matched the tornados windy air with their delicate rage. Of course the tornados were stronger and wilder. But our pine trees did what any soft and delicate tree would do. And now we know the gestures with which to honor their roots. We know with clarity, what to do when high winds pass…
