Imagine the sound of velvet melting, the thought of a human kindness day, the desire to understand one another, even if it kills us softly, even if we wonder where is the love. Such was the power and charisma of Roberta Flack and though the world may have lost one of the most underrated artist today, I hope she rests knowing, her style, her way, was everything. The sun truly rose in her eyes and and the moon and stars in melodious tunes through her voice, will forever be endless gifts she gave to world. 

By the way, I learnt recently that she was roommates with Lucille Clifton. As if brain knew why I loved both of them. To be black, gifted, and woman, two of my every day muse, so many will never understand. Like do what you like, we know our worth, know too our reason for being is what these women have taught me, the audacity to be different, to be you, your way, that all I can say is Rest in peace, rest, rest.
