Keep eyes open!

We are taking the best dreams, and the best ideas, and a girl whose mama’s name is Onyelo to open eyes and her grandma who knew Onyelo to tender carefully this little light of hers and here she comes, isioma, an Onicha-ugbo treasure, Celestine’s Obi and may the art in the love that framed you, fill your hands to inspire, and may the love in the art that flamed you, fill your head with fire, and may the art in the love that named you, fill your heart like a choir, so many eyes open.

Art by Monday.

I am embarking on a new journey, one where eyes matter. So I’m calling upon my ancestors to help open my own eyes as right now I’m blind and in a valley with no sense of directions except my name and the fact that I am Onyelo’s daughter and who ever knew we would find ourselves in a space where eyes matter. I don’t take this opportunity for granted and this gift he has given for love of community, will forever be used for his glory amen. Thank you to those who keep seeing what I barely see in myself. You are all God’s divine grace that he uses to assure me that his plans for his own are always good. We are stepping out with this one in faith and trust in God.

Words above inspired by Lucille Clifton.
