Everyday, I am surrounded by ideas beautiful, one of which is you, words to keep, firing up my life as nothing else could. Of course there are things to do, places to go, children to raise, and people to love, but still the thought of keeping words, one at a time, is like the red bird you see, the one perched on the top of the tree, guiding these next words I know you will keep.
That love in everyday things, not just the bombs that explode, but truth in you that grows, is as solemn as these instructions for living. So in the new year, pay attention, be astonished, and do tell about it here, with love, every day. Happy New Year!

I love the color red. It’s my go to color for many things. The start of a new year for example. I couldn’t resist to put on something red as we headed to church today. That and the re-reading the Red Bird by Mary Oliver, with its instruction for living, that we pay attention, that we be astonished, and that we tell about it. This year, I intend to do so, begin or end each day, with words, to keep, on everyday things I love or do not love, hope restored or not, but of all the ways I live. Keep it.
