Keep change!

We accept change without reason, for good or bad or wise. We accept it even if we never understand. We accept it when questions still remain. Like drops of rain, that fall unrehearsed, like a fragrance that clings to air, like joy that evolves over time, we accept change, day by day like the silence of death. Though we met briefly this past January, I still consider our encounter to be for today, to serve as a reminder to accept all the changes that come, good bad or worse, like the drops of rain, falling outside my door. May the goodness of you, all that we remember, like drops of rain, bring joy for this unrehearsed life.

I heard about the death of a colleague today. She was young, kind and full of life like the drops of rain falling outside my window. I wrote the above in her memory, adapted from the last words she left for all of us still living. Life is one big unrehearsed activity, she would note. Accept all the changes it brings, good, bad or wise (what I call lessons learned from things worse these days). I’m listening. Sleep well Seema.
